Intro to Watercolor Portraits

In this beginner level class, Dan Shanahan will focus on using watercolor as a way to shade, in a method similar to charcoal or conté crayon, and focus less on color. This is a method Dan uses when he wants to concentrate on shading without the distraction of variations of hues. This will allow students to focus on how the water and the pigment work together in a watercolor painting. Students will learn how to work with hard & soft edges, and how to control the paint to avoid unwanted effects.
